SFPA's 2012 Thanksgiving Charity Drive & Dinner

SFPA is hosting a special Thanksgiving charity drive and dinner for WINGS South Florida, a Miami non-profit community based program for at-risk adjudicated young women ages 14-19 who are pregnant or already mothers.

WINGS South Florida provides an opportunity for these girls to remain with their babies instead of being separated from them as they would be in a regular juvenile justice facility. WINGS South Florida is one of 57 programs in 8 states affiliated with AMIkids which is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Their Personal Growth Model of service delivery combines education, treatment, behavior modification and experiential learning opportunities to provide a holistic, comprehensive approach to the needs of young women. These efforts have resulted in over 95% of program participants experiencing a successful transition back into their community.

The Thanksgiving dinner will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Please consider joining us for this special event, either in person (register here online) or through your contributions. Unfortunately, men cannot volunteer at this event, but we can use all the "manpower" to gather donations!

Needed items are listed below, and can be dropped off at one of 3 convenient locations by Tuesday, November 13th, or if you would prefer to make a monetary donation, SFPA will purchase needed items on your behalf.

Baby Supplies:

Baby bath tub, Diapers 3 months and up, Good start formula,  Bottles, nipples, pacifiers, teething rings, Front packs & slings, Diaper bags, Breast pumps, High chair, Baby Books, baby clothing, strollers (for youth to take home), bouncy chair (for youth to take home) , Boppys (for youth to take home),

 Adopt a mother baby room:

 Girly twin bedding including: bed skirt, mattress pad, top & bottom sheet, comforter/quilt, blanket, pillow & case, pillow protectors,

Crib bedding: receiving blankets, baby blankets, crib sheets, changing pad cover

Ribbon Board

Girl Clothing:

Girly appropriate PJs

Fun socks

 Nursing shirts:

 Khaki Maternity pants

Active Wear/Work out pants

Other fun ideas include:
Gift certificates from stores
gift certificates for hair and nails
Passes or tickets to shows, or parks, like the Metro Zoo, Coral Castle, South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center, http://www.smdcac.org/ or the Adrian Arsht Center http://www.arshtcenter.org.

Monetary donations can also be made by sending your check made payable to: SFPA, c/o SFPA Thanksgiving, P.O. Box 31-0745, Miami, Florida 33231-0745. Your donations will be used to purchase needed items and given to the residents at the time of the dinner.
