SFPA began in 1979 as a way to provide a local forum for ideas relating to the paralegal profession. In 1993 SFPA became an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and in 2008, SFPA became an affiliate of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA). SFPA continues to work diligently to enhance the competence and effective use of professional paralegals through education, active participation in the legal community and forming alliances with local and state bar associations.
